The Auditing Roundtable is returning to the Nation's Capitol in September, holding its Annual Meeting in Crystal City on September 3-5, 2008.

To take advantage of being in the Washington, D.C. area, the Roundtable will draw speakers from various regulatory agencies to get the "Government Perspective" on the plenary session topics.   Agency speakers have been invited to complement members from consulting and industry on topics such as: Process Safety Management, Nanotechnology, Greenhouse Gases, and Security Auditing.  The meeting agenda also includes sessions which will address:

  • audit program reviews and how they have changed over the years;
  • auditing of behavior based safety; and
  • a perspective on sustainability reporting and social responsibility auditing.

This meeting will also contain a little extra - - more training opportunities than have ever been offered!   After the rousing success of the Roundtable's "Auditing Basics" training course held in Phoenix, the organization is expanding its training options to three concurrent training sessions:

  1. Auditing Basics (Wednesday-Thursday, September 3 -4);
  2. Environmental Compliance (Tuesday afternoon-Thursday, September 2 - 4); and
  3. Health and Safety Compliance   (Tuesday afternoon-Thursday, September 2 - 4).

For those already certified and seeking CPD opportunities, the Roundtable will also hold a CEU course that will focus on using Greenhouse Gas protocols.

There are still plenty of sponsorship opportunities available….and a few Exhibitor slots left.  If you are interested in either, please contact Kathy Rieth at kathy@auditing-roundtable.org.

VALUE PROPOSITION FOR THE TRI-LATERAL INITIATIVE

The Leading organizations in EHS and internal auditing have joined forces to promote the professional practice of EHS auditing and auditor expertise. Collectively, the AR, BEAC and The IIA provides auditors and stakeholders with resources such as auditor certifications, codes of ethics, body of knowledge, and educational and networking opportunities, for a competent and productive EHS audit program.

EHS auditing contributes to effective and accountable corporate risk management. When delivered by certified professionals, a reliable EHS audit program adds to the business value by enabling improved performance, enhancing credibility, increasing stakeholder assurance, and defining the organization as a responsible employer and an environmental steward.
