ABOUT BEAC

BEAC is an independent, nonprofit corporation established in 1997 to issue professional certifications relating to environmental, health, and safety auditing and other scientific fields. BEAC was originally created as a joint venture between The Institute of Internal Auditors (The IIA) and the Auditing Roundtable, Inc.(Roundtable).

BEAC is a member of the Council of Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards (CESB), a third-party accreditation board. The CESB has granted full accreditation to BEAC's Certified Professional Environmental Auditor (CPEA) certification.

Mission Statement:

To enhance the professional practice of EH&S auditing and reliability of audit results through an accredited auditor certification program and professional EH&S auditing standards.

Vision Statement :

BEAC’s vision is to be the recognized global leader in EH&S auditor certification. BEAC aspires to enable organizations to improve EH&S performance by:

• Attracting all EH&S auditors to become certified,
• Being the preferred choice for EH&S auditor certification,
• Increasing stakeholder demand for certified EH&S auditors, and
• Increasing competency of EH&S auditors

• BEAC certification demonstrates the competency, professionalism, and ability of EHS auditors.
• BEAC certification is fully accredited by the Council on Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards (CESB).
• BEAC CPEAs are recognized by The Institute of Internal Auditors for their professional accomplishments.
• BEAC CPEAs qualify for Professional Membership status with the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE).
• BEAC's parent organizations, The IIA and the AR, are membership organizations which provide a valuable service to the certification process. They provide their members with a variety of services, including journals, conferences, continuing education courses, books, and many other valuable services for EHS and other auditing professionals.

Applicants may choose to apply and become certified in one, two, or all areas of specialty - Management System, Environmental Compliance, Health & Safety, and Responsible Care® auditor certification programs.
